Tap a step to highlight it, or turn on Cook Mode for large type and step-by-step focus.

  1. Heat the oven to 200°C / 390°F. Mix the beef and pork mince with the breadcrumbs, egg, milk, garlic powder and salt and roll into 32 balls.

  2. Bake on a lined tray for 18 minutes, turning once, until browned.

  3. Simmer the barbecue sauce with the brown sugar and vinegar for 5 minutes until thick.

  4. Toss the meatballs in the sauce, return to the oven for 10 minutes until sticky and serve on cocktail sticks.

Worth Knowing Before You Cook

Do not overmix the meat.

Roll the balls the same size.

If your oven runs hot, check at 15 minutes.

Line the tray to ease the cleaning.

Common Substitutions & Variations

  • A dry vermouth keeps for longer than an open bottle of white wine and is the closer swap than a random white left in the fridge; for an alcohol-free version, use the same amount of stock with a squeeze of lemon.

Keeping What's Left

Keeps in the fridge for 3 days. Reheat in a hot oven.
