  1. Heat the oven to 180°C / 350°F and grease a 23 x 33 cm baking dish.

  2. Cook the beef with the garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper in a large frying pan over medium-high heat for 6 minutes, breaking it up, until browned. Drain off the fat.

  3. Slice the slab of rolls in half horizontally without separating the rolls. Set the bottom half in the dish and spread the beef over it. Lay the cheese on top and cover with the top half.

  4. Stir the melted butter and Worcestershire sauce together, brush it over the tops of the rolls, and sprinkle with the sesame seeds.

  5. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake for 5 minutes more, until the tops are golden and the cheese has melted.

  6. Cut into 12 sliders with a sharp knife and serve with the pickles, ketchup and mustard.

Tips for Making Cheeseburger Sliders

  • Drain the beef well. Extra fat soaks into the soft rolls and makes them greasy, and it is worth pressing the meat in a sieve.
  • Cover with foil for the first stage. It melts the cheese and steams the bread soft, and uncovering at the end browns the top.
  • Keep the rolls in one slab. Cutting them in half as a block gives a neat sandwich that can be assembled quickly and separated after baking.

What to Serve with Cheeseburger Sliders

  • Dill pickle slices
  • Crinkle-cut fries
  • Coleslaw

Storing & Reheating Cheeseburger Sliders

Best eaten warm. Keeps in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheats in a 160°C oven, covered, for 10 minutes. The assembled tray can be covered and refrigerated for up to 8 hours before baking.
