Bring a wide pan of water to a gentle simmer. Add the frankfurters and simmer for 5 to 6 minutes, until heated through and plump.

Steam the buns for 1 minute in a steamer basket over the simmering water, or wrap them in a damp cloth and microwave for 15 seconds, until soft and warm.
