  1. Put the mayonnaise, mustard, honey, vinegar and lemon juice in a small bowl.

  2. Whisk until smooth and evenly combined, then whisk in the water until the dressing is the thickness you like.

  3. Season with salt and pepper. Taste, and add more honey if you would like it sweeter, or more mustard for a sharper edge.

  4. Use straight away, or cover and chill for 30 minutes to let the flavours blend.

Tips for Making Honey Mustard Dressing

  • Warm the honey jar in hot water for a minute if the honey is stiff. Runny honey blends much more smoothly.
  • Thin the dressing gradually. A little water at a time gives you a dip for chicken or a pouring dressing for salad.
  • Use a good Dijon mustard. It is the main flavour, and a mild yellow mustard will make a blander, sweeter dressing.

What to Serve with Honey Mustard Dressing

  • Chicken tenders
  • Chef salad
  • Baked sweet potato

Storing & Reheating Honey Mustard Dressing

Keeps in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 1 week. Stir before using, as it can settle, and thin with a teaspoon of water if it thickens in the cold. Not suitable for freezing.
