-
Heat the grill to medium-high and line the grill pan with foil. Brush the lamb chops with a tablespoon of the oil and season with salt and pepper.
-
Put the sausages on the grill rack and grill about 10 cm from the heat for 6 minutes, turning once.
-
Brush the mushrooms with the melted butter, season them, and add them to the pan, gill side up, with the tomatoes cut side up. Brush the tomatoes with a little of the remaining oil.
-
Add the lamb chops and grill for 4 to 5 minutes, then turn the chops, sausages and mushrooms and grill for 4 to 5 minutes more, until the chops are browned and pink in the centre and the sausages are cooked through.
-
Add the bacon to the grill and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until crisp at the edges.
-
Meanwhile, fry the eggs in the rest of the oil in a non-stick pan until the whites are set and the yolks are still runny.
-
Pile everything onto warm plates with the eggs, chips and peas, and serve straight away.
Tips for Making Mixed Grill
- Start the sausages first. They need almost twice as long as the chops, and the order of cooking is what keeps everything hot on the plate together.
- Use a foil-lined grill pan and leave the juices in it. The mushrooms and tomatoes soak up the meat juices as they cook, and that is where the flavour comes from.
- Check that the sausages are cooked through by cutting one open. It should be hot and firm throughout, with no pink.
What to Serve with Mixed Grill
- Chunky chips
- Mushy peas
- English mustard and brown sauce
Storing & Reheating Mixed Grill
Best eaten straight from the grill. Leftover meats keep in the fridge for up to 2 days and are good the next morning in a fry-up or in a sandwich.
