  1. Put the milk, yoghurt, banana, oats, peanut butter, cocoa and honey, if using, in a blender jug and add the ice.

  2. Blend on high for 60 seconds, until smooth with no flecks of oat.

  3. Pour into a tall glass and drink at once. If it is too thick, add a splash of milk and blend for 10 seconds.

Chef’s Tips

  • Blend for a full minute. The oats need time to break down, and a short blend leaves the shake gritty.
  • Use fat-free Greek yoghurt for the most protein for the calories. The full-fat kind is creamier, with a little less protein.
  • For more protein, add a scoop of whey or pea protein powder and a splash more milk.

Pairing Suggestions

  • A handful of almonds
  • A boiled egg
  • A piece of fruit

Storage & Reheating

Best drunk straight away. It keeps in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours and thickens as it stands, so stir or shake it before drinking.
