Heat the oven to 180°C / 350°F and line two trays with baking paper.

Beat the butter and sugar for 3 minutes until pale and fluffy.

Sift in the flour and cocoa and mix until just combined.

Crush the cornflakes lightly in your hand and fold them in, so some pieces stay chunky.

Roll level tablespoons of dough into 18 balls, set them 4 cm apart on the trays and flatten each gently with a fork.

Bake 15 to 18 minutes, until firm. Cool on the trays 10 minutes, then on a rack until completely cold.

Beat the icing sugar, cocoa, butter and 1 tablespoon of hot water into a thick, spreadable icing, adding a few more drops of water if needed.

Spread over each cold biscuit and top with a walnut half. Leave 15 minutes to set.
