-
Season the chicken with the salt and pepper and lay it in the slow cooker.
-
Stir the honey, soy sauce, garlic and ketchup together and pour over.
-
Cover and cook on low for 4 hours until tender.
-
Lift out the chicken. Pour the juices into a pan, stir in the cornflour mixed with the water and simmer for 4 minutes until glossy.
-
Return the chicken to the sauce and scatter with the sesame seeds and spring onions.
A Few Notes
Use thighs.
Do not add water.
If your cooker runs hot, check at 3 hours 30 minutes.
Thicken the sauce in a pan.
If You're Missing Something
- Out of spring onions? A small regular onion, finely sliced, or a few chives stirred in at the end both cover the job.
- An eighth of a teaspoon of garlic powder per clove is the stand-in usually given when you are out of fresh garlic; it will not brown the same way, and it burns easily, so add it with the liquid.
Storing and Reheating
Keeps in the fridge for 3 days. Reheat gently in the sauce.
The Numbers per Serving
Per serving, an approximate calculation from the ingredient list. Treat it as a rough guide: weights that include bone are counted as if all of it were eaten, so the figures run high. How the figures are worked out.
